“Yes, your child can be like everyone”

“He who is victor over others is strong but he who conquers himself can accomplish anything”
In recent years awareness regarding all manner of physical and emotional difficulties has increased dramatically. Conditions like: behavioral disturbances, eye-hand co-ordination problems, sensory perception difficulties, attention disorders ADD, hyperactivity ADHD and other various social and emotional problems. According to Schneider Children’s hospital studies have shown that appropriate involvement in activities like karate therapy, assist and improve performance, self confidence and motivation in children. Also there is a marked improvement in their social interactions, learning abilities and a decrease in violence. Seido karate combines self defense technique with physical exercise and meditation for spiritual development. The aim of Seido is the physical and mental growth and development of our students. At Seido the competition is with yourself and not others. The target is to leave the class having improved on a personal level. Karate serves to continually increase physical prowess and has a substantial influence on cognitive abilities such as; listening to your body, quality if movement, range of movement, stability, balance, symmetry in movement, concentration, opposing movement, discipline, hand-eye co-ordination, listening to instructions, attentiveness and the removal of doubt in oneself.
This kind of training teaches the child to discover his boundaries such as; the limitations of their strength, judging distances from others or objects. There is also contact between the students in techniques of throwing or holding. The child learns to listen to their friends, what is good for them and what is not, what can hurt someone and what can hurt them, leaving the egocentric physical world of themselves and listening to their friends, self control and social skills.
