Sei Shihan Eli Bitran
Sei-shihan Eli Bitran is a Master of various Japanese martial arts.
6th degree black belt in Karate and is the Chairman of the Israeli Seido Karate Organization.
4th degree black belt in AI-KI-KAI Aikido.
A ranking Judoka who has studied and taught Judo for many years as well as competing in the heavyweight division.
Many years of study in the fields of Muay-Thai, Jiu-jitsu, Krav maga and anti-terror combat.
Likewise Sei-shihan has expertise and teaches the various oriental weapons styles.
Sei-shihan Eli Bitran was born in Israel in 1954 and began his journey with self defense lessons before there was any real awareness in Israel of the martial arts. He studied mainly Judo and self defense.
In 1972 Sei-shihan began to serous study Kyokushinkai karate under the then Chief instructor in Israel, Gidon Kadari.
In 1975 he participated as a member of the Israeli national team at the first Kyokushinkai World Championships that took place in Tokyo, Japan.
In the 80’s Sei-shihan represented Israel in the European championship in full and semi contact fighting. During these years Sei-shihan Eli Bitran began training in Aikido.
In 1990 Eli Bitran officially joined the Seido Karate organization which is based in Manhattan. At the head of Seido was Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura who had been one of the top Kyokushinkai karateka and he and Sei-shihan began a close and special relationship that continues to this day.
The move to Seido was not a simple process but rather a long road that involved many long weeks of training while once again wearing a white belt and all the while under the watchful gaze of Kaicho. The training that Sei-shihan went through in 5 weeks, others do in a year. 310 hours of traing, 10-12 hours a day.

The training regiment included 3 days of meditation at a monastery that involved many hours of sitting perfectly still in 90 degree humidity, traing under the open sky, ice cold water, heavy trekking and vegetarian food.
In the final sessions which included many hours of demonstrating skill in self defense, kata and various combat techniques. In another session he fought against tens of black belts from Kaicho’s dojo. The sparring went for over an hour and a half and thereafter Sei-Shihan was presented with the rank of 4th dan having fulfilled all the requirements.

In 1997 Sei-shihan completed his studies at the Coaching School of Wingate Sports Institution and received his degree in Sports Therapy and also qualified as a Senior Coach in the martial arts.
As a member of the Israeli Karate Federation which holds only semi-contact tournaments Sei-shihan created the official first full-contact karate body within the federation. Many dojos joined the full-contact organization so that they could compete in there primary field of training. Seido was a main influence within the organization and sent many students to competitions where they excelled both in Kata and Kumite (sparring).
As the first martial arts persona in Ra’anana where he has been teaching for 30 years, Sei –shihan has contributed countless efforts towards education through the martial arts and continues to fight against violence within the youth and child populations. Sei-shihan prepares instructors who work in the educational system as well as special units of the Israeli defense forces.
In November 1998 Sei-shihan won third place at the Karate Masters Championship tournament in the USA. Since then Sei-shihan has attended many international seminars all over the globe in Karate and Aikido by word renowned masters.
As one of the senior members of Seido International, Sei-shihan is regimental in visiting kaicho Tadashi Nakamura at the Honbu (headquarter) dojo for training and various other events, many times accompanied by his students. In this way Sei-shihan represents Israel and promotes the dojo where he continues to teach groups and enrich students every day.
